About Intuitive Machines

Intuitive Machines is an innovative and cutting-edge space company making cislunar space accessible to both public and private customers. Our mission is to further science and exploration, communications, and economic progress from the Earth to the Moon and beyond. With multiple NASA lunar missions in development and additional private missions on our manifest, we pride ourselves in supporting NASA, our customers, and the nation in paving the way to return humans to the surface of the Moon. Our world-class team includes experts in all aspects of spacecraft subsystems design, development, and test, on-orbit operations, and safety.

About the Position

Intuitive Machines is seeking a Professional Editing Specialist to produce clear, consistent, polished proposals and technical documents. This individual contributor role supports Business Development and proposal teams through expert editing, advanced document formatting, and reliable production of complex, multi-volume submissions for government and commercial customers.

Working with Capture Specialists, technical authors, and the graphics team, you will build proposal templates, refine content, and maintain document integrity through iterative reviews and final production. You will own editorial quality and presentation, applying solicitation requirements to every volume and resolving technical questions with authors and proposal leads.

Responsibilities

  • Translate RFP instructions and amendments into volume-specific templates and production checklists covering fonts, sizes, margins, spacing, page limits, headings, graphics, tables, captions, file formats, and naming conventions.
  • Create and maintain Microsoft Word templates with reusable styles, section layouts, headers and footers, automated numbering, tables of contents, lists of figures and tables, captions, and cross-references.
  • Assemble, split, distribute, and recombine proposal sections throughout Pink, Red, Gold, and other review cycles; reconcile edits and maintain styles, pagination, fields, links, and document structure.
  • Maintain controlled working files and review baselines; coordinate tracked changes, comments, contributor versions, and approved updates to prevent lost edits or use of outdated content.
  • Partner with the graphics team on a standardized visual style, including fonts, colors, labels, captions, numbering, and source-file conventions; check that visuals are legible at final size and meet RFP requirements.
  • Create and refine PowerPoint layouts, tables, charts, and straightforward diagrams; prepare clear graphics requests and integrate approved visuals into proposal volumes and presentations.
  • Use Adobe Acrobat Pro to convert, combine, split, reorder, compare, and optimize PDFs; manage bookmarks and links, verify searchable text and font rendering, and check file-size and security settings against submission requirements.
  • Perform editorial and formatting quality checks across all volumes, including terminology, acronyms, references, page counts, graphics, and required markings; flag content gaps and compliance issues to the proposal lead.
  • Prepare review packages and final submission files; inspect exported PDFs for clipping, missing content, broken links, image quality, and conversion errors, and provide verified production files for final approval.
  • Maintain editorial guidance, templates, reusable layouts, and production checklists; coordinate deadlines with proposal leads and improve document workflows based on lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, technical communication, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three or more years of professional editing and document production experience with proposals, technical publications, reports, or other complex business documents.
  • Excellent command of written English, with demonstrated ability to improve clarity and consistency while preserving technical meaning and the author’s intent.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word proficiency, including styles, templates, multilevel numbering, section breaks, fields, cross-references, tracked changes, and troubleshooting complex formatting.
  • Strong Adobe Acrobat Pro and PDF production skills, including conversion, assembly, comparison, optimization, bookmarks, and final-output quality checks.
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills, including slide masters, reusable layouts, and consistent formatting of text, tables, charts, and visuals.
  • Ability to interpret detailed document instructions, manage versions and concurrent deadlines, and collaborate effectively with technical authors and reviewers.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience editing and producing U.S. government proposals, including multi-volume submissions, RFP formatting requirements, and color-team review cycles.
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, engineering, or scientific subject matter.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio or advanced PowerPoint graphics, with the ability to develop process flows, organizational charts, and technical diagrams from author inputs.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or similar graphics and publishing tools, and preparing visuals for use across Word, PowerPoint, and PDF.
  • Experience with SharePoint or similar document collaboration systems, editorial style guides, and reusable template libraries.
