Software Engineer - Embedded (all genders)
About the job
Join the Pinnacle of Satellite Technology Advancement in Germany! Reflex Aerospace is at the forefront of propelling high-performance satellite technology to new heights within the German aerospace landscape.
We're looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Satellite Equipment Engineering department and be part of the team developing actuators and sensors. ## What the team does - Implement low-level drivers for ARM-based MCUs and external chips in real-time operating system and bare-metal environments. - Implement software for satellite subsystems such as reaction wheels, GNSS receivers, star trackers, and sun sensors. - Collaborate with the hardware and electronics team on board handover, bring-up, and validation. - Work with the Flight Software team, who write the software that commands these actuators and sensors, to define and test the interfaces between the two. - Assist with on-orbit flight operations. ## What you'll do - Configure peripherals (timers, GPIO, ADC, DMA, communication buses) from datasheets and reference manuals, with review from senior engineers. - Write and test drivers for sensors and actuators, and check that the values they produce match what the hardware is doing. - Debug on real hardware with a debugger, logic analyzer, and oscilloscope. - Write unit and integration tests that specify the behavior of your firmware. - Write Python tools for testing, calibration, and automating repetitive work. - Fix setup notes, standard operating procedures, and bring-up documentation when you find gaps. ## Your Background - Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. - Up to 3 years of hands-on embedded development experience in domains such as robotics, real-time control systems, or low-level systems software. - Solid grasp of C.
You can explain volatile, interrupts, and why sharing data between an ISR and the main loop needs care. - Working knowledge of Python for scripting and test tooling. - You have built a microcontroller project with working firmware: clocks, GPIO, a timer interrupt, a serial peripheral. - You have read data from an I²C or SPI device and checked that it was correct. - Comfortable with a hardware debugger (SWD/JTAG) to step code, set breakpoints, and inspect memory on a target. - Familiar with git, code review, and working on Linux with a GCC-style toolchain. - Able to read schematics well enough to find a pin, a pull-up, or a power rail. ## Nice to have - Exposure to an RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr, or a basic understanding of tasks, queues, and priorities. - Experience with ARM Cortex-M devices and their vendor SDKs. - Experience with CAN. - Unit testing of embedded code on the host (Unity, CMocka, GoogleTest, or similar). - Interest in or familiarity with Rust. ## What We Offer - Collaborate with a diverse multinational team crafting the next wave of cutting-edge satellites.
Embark on this exciting journey with us from the outset, leaving your indelible mark on a dynamic company and playing a direct role in shaping the future of the space industry. - Enjoy 30 days of paid vacation and a special company holiday on April 12th, celebrating the International Day of Human Space Flight and the spirit of exploration. - We provide a hybrid work model along with flexible working hours, empowering you as the owner of your time management. - An annual training budget of 1.500€. - A contribution to your Urban Sports membership as well as a discount on public transportation. - A 20% contribution to your private pension plan. - Access to Corporate Benefits - a website with many discounts for various brands. - We exclusively offer permanent employment contracts, reflecting our commitment to building long-term relationships and supporting sustainable career growth within our organization.
