The ideal candidate defines and owns the enterprise source control and release engineering strategy, enabling development and engineering teams' organization-wide to build, test, and release software through standardized, secure, and auditable workflows.

This role leads the consolidation of fragmented Git platforms and repository practices across the organization into a single, governed source control and automation foundation, and sets the CI/CD standards that teams build against.

The ideal candidate is hands-on with enterprise Git platform administration, fluent in modern CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices, and comfortable operating as the enterprise authority on source control standards.

The role also owns the organization-wide platform services that build and release pipelines depend on - a shared container registry, object storage, and centralized secrets management - replacing team-specific instances with Voyager-standard, enterprise-supported services. ## Git Platform Strategy & Consolidation - Define and own the enterprise Git platform strategy, including platform standards, architecture, and long-term roadmap. - Lead the consolidation of source control tooling across the organization, migrating and standardizing repositories from legacy and fragmented platforms onto an approved enterprise standard. - Administer enterprise Git platforms (self-hosted and cloud-hosted), including repository structure, access controls, and branch protection policies. - Integrate enterprise Git platforms with identity and access management for automated user provisioning and deprovisioning. - Define and enforce branching strategies, code review workflows, and repository governance standards across engineering teams. - Manage platform licensing, seat allocation, organizational structure, and version upgrades. ## CI/CD Pipeline Engineering - Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across the organization's build and release tooling. - Implement automated build, test, security scanning, and deployment workflows across development, staging, and production environments. - Build reusable pipeline templates and shared workflow libraries to standardize CI/CD practices across teams. - Integrate artifact repositories and container registries into pipeline workflows. - Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and compute cost across the organization's CI/CD platforms. ## Platform Services: Container Registry, Object Storage & Secrets Management - Deploy and operate an organization-wide container registry (e.g., Harbor or equivalent) to host, scan, and manage container images across engineering and manufacturing teams, consolidating existing team-specific registries onto a single Voyager-standard service. - Deploy and operate organization-wide object storage (e.g., MinIO or equivalent S3-compatible storage) for build artifacts, test data, and engineering file storage. - Own centralized secrets management infrastructure (e.g., HashiCorp Vault or equivalent) as a shared platform service supporting CI/CD pipelines, applications, and infrastructure automation enterprise-wide, replacing ad hoc or team-local secrets handling. - Define access control, retention, backup, and disaster recovery policies for the registry, object storage, and secrets management platforms. ## Infrastructure as Code & Automation - Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation for Git platform, CI/CD, and platform services infrastructure. - Write automation scripts in Python, PowerShell, and Bash to support platform operations, developer tooling, and workflow automation. - Containerize build and deployment workflows using Docker; support Kubernetes-based deployment pipelines. ## Security, Compliance & Observability - Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure Git platform configurations meet data handling and access control requirements. - Implement audit logging, access reviews, and compliance reporting for source control and CI/CD systems. - Integrate static and dynamic application security testing and dependency scanning into pipeline workflows. - Monitor platform health, pipeline failures, and security events; implement proactive alerting and self-healing mechanisms where possible. ## Collaboration & Documentation - Partner with engineering, data, and platform teams to translate development workflow needs into Git and CI/CD solutions. - Create and maintain documentation for Git standards, pipeline templates, and platform runbooks. - Serve as the technical resource and escalation point for Git and CI/CD issues across the organization. - Participate in architecture reviews and cross-functional planning for engineering tooling and platform roadmap. ## Git Platforms - GitLab - self-hosted and SaaS administration, group/project structure, permissions, CI/CD configuration - GitHub - Enterprise Cloud and Enterprise Server administration, organization and repository management - Git branching strategies - trunk-based development, GitFlow, repository governance and code review workflows ## CI/CD & Pipeline Tools - GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps Pipelines - Jenkins or equivalent legacy CI tooling, a plus for migration work - Artifact management and container registries (GitHub Packages, GitLab Container Registry, or equivalent) ## Cloud Platforms - AWS (commercial and GovCloud) - Microsoft Azure ## Infrastructure as Code & Containers - Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible - Docker, Kubernetes basics for containerized build and deployment workloads ## Scripting & Programming (Required) - Python - automation, API integrations, tooling development - PowerShell - Windows and Azure environment scripting - Bash - Linux automation and pipeline scripting ## Container Registry, Object Storage & Secrets - Container registry - Harbor (or equivalent) deployment, administration, and image scanning - Object storage - MinIO (or equivalent S3-compatible storage) deployment and administration - Secrets management - HashiCorp Vault (or cloud-native equivalent) deployment and administration as a platform service ## Identity, Security & Observability - Okta - SSO and SCIM integration, Active Directory - SAST/DAST and dependency scanning tooling - Monitoring and observability - Prometheus/Grafana or equivalent ## Qualifications - Must hold and maintain an active Secret clearance upon hire ## Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience. - 10-12 years of DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering experience. - Demonstrated hands-on experience administering both GitLab and GitHub at enterprise
