Senior Engineering Manager - RAN Applications

When you're ready to take on something new, you'll find leaders who support your development and help you turn your ambition into action. ## What you'll do - Stakeholder in the overall management of 5G NTN RAN solution, own the design and development of RAN applications (on top of SMO/RIC framework) for the 5G LEO ground network based on use cases and requirements from system engineering and other stakeholders - Lead DevOps oriented engineering efforts to integrate/deploy/manage RAN applications - Support end to end integration of operational workflows of NTN ground network ## The day-to-day - Participate in system design/development/integration efforts of various NTN orchestration and resource management applications in a modern satellite ground network - Apply your knowledge of NTN / 5G /O-RAN framework and overcome restrictions imposed by standard interfaces for D2D use cases - Drive and contribute in the design/development of NTN RAN applications on public cloud - Integrate orchestration, telemetry, fault, metrics, and other OAM features required to manage RAN applications and overall constellation resources ## What you'll need - Minimum 10 to 12 years of software development experiences with Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience - At least 2-3 years of people leadership experience leading small R&D teams - Very good understanding of 5G NR standard and O-RAN framework - Experience using AI assisted coding tools for production grade software development and testing - Experience defining and developing RESTful interfaces - Hands on with modern mainstream languages such as Go, Python, Rust and C++ - Excellent knowledge of Linux operating system and development environments, GitOps - In-dept knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes (K8s), CaaS, PaaS, with hands on knowledge of containerized application development. - Experience deployment and managing software applications in private, public (GCP preferred), or hybrid cloud environments. - Strong deployment, troubleshooting, automation expertise - Ability to work with distributed remote agile teams and vendors with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently - Excellent communication and collaboration skills to drive interaction with peer engineers, vendors and project manager - Ability to travel up to 10% ## What will help you on the job - Experience developing RAN resource optimization applications for TN/NTN networks - Understanding of LEO NTN network and associated RAN challenges - Experience in microservices-based, stateless, cloud-native architecture definitions, considering auto-scaling, high availability and elasticity - Experience deploying and monitoring applications in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) - Experience in CI-CD automation and tools such as Argo, Jenkins, Ansible, etc. - Knowledge of container networking fundamentals and K8s orchestration - Experience applying machine learning & statistical techniques such as clustering, classification, regression, forecasting, & feature engineering, to real-world problems - Experience with network management frameworks utilizing SNMP, Netconf, YANG, and RESTful APIs - Strong analytical and communication skills ## EEO Statement Viasat is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
