About the job

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you've come to the right place! E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services.

We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We're intentional, we're unapologetically curious and we're 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life. The E-Space Manufacturing team builds the world's most advanced aerospace products at high rate and high precision.

As a Senior Mechanical Systems Designer, you'll design the mechanical systems that make E-Space's automated production lines run - fixtures, frames, motion assemblies, and the hardware that ties automation together. You'll work hands-on in SolidWorks alongside a Staff designer and the broader manufacturing team, owning subsystems end-to-end and bringing them from concept to qualified production hardware.

This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering leadership team. ## Your mission Own mechanical systems and end-of-arm tooling for automated manufacturing.

Translate production requirements into reliable equipment, mechanisms, and tooling, and carry designs from concept through build, integration, and verified production acceptance. ## What you will own · Design mechanical systems and subsystems in SolidWorks, including machine structures, frames, fixtures, motion assemblies, and precision mechanisms. · Design end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), grippers, and handling mechanisms that integrate reliably with industrial robots. · Own designs from requirements and concept reviews through prototyping, fabrication, assembly, testing, and production handover. · Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and design-for-manufacture principles to achieve reliable assembly, precision, and repeatability. · Define mechanical, pneumatic, and sensor interfaces with robotics, controls, and manufacturing engineers. · Select mechanical components, work with suppliers, and support fabrication and assembly of your designs. · Release complete CAD models, drawings, build documentation, and test evidence under revision control. · Prototype and test designs, resolve integration issues, and verify improvements against agreed safety, quality, and performance requirements. ## How you lead Extreme ownership.

You own the outcome of your work. When a dependency threatens delivery, engage the right people, communicate the impact, and drive a recovery plan. Take responsibility for your decisions and learn from mistakes. Bias for action. Move quickly from a problem to a decision and a next step. Escalate blockers early and act with urgency while maintaining safety and product quality. Drive and follow-through.

Define what done means before work begins. Make clear commitments, inspect progress, and stay engaged until the required result is achieved and verified. Close the loop with others. High standards and direct communication. Use facts, raise concerns early, and communicate candidly.

Follow review and release requirements, ask for help when needed, and make handoffs clear. ## What you bring · 5+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in machinery, automation, or precision hardware. · Demonstrated hands-on capability in both mechanical systems design and EOAT design, with examples taken through build and test. · Strong SolidWorks skills for assemblies, detailed parts, and production drawings. · Strong GD&T, tolerance-analysis, and design-for-manufacture fundamentals. · Practical experience with mechanisms, motion components, pneumatics, vacuum, sensors, and actuators. · Experience integrating mechanical systems and tooling with industrial robots and controls. · Ability to troubleshoot physical hardware, work across engineering disciplines, and follow issues through verified closure. · BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Preferred experience · Experience with specialty gripping technologies and precision handling. · Experience selecting components and coordinating builds with suppliers. · Background in complex manufacturing or precision automation. ## What success looks like Mechanical systems and EOAT meet agreed safety, precision, repeatability, and cycle-time requirements.

Released design packages support dependable builds, acceptance tests verify performance, and production teams receive reliable hardware with clear handover information. You can own work in either discipline and resolve the interfaces between them. ## Why E-Space is right for you: As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving our success.

Our team members have a strong sense of dedication and responsibility; this includes a strong commitment to our mission to create an entirely new suite of global capabilities to improve lives, business efficiencies and build a smarter planet. This means that there will be times when extra hours, including nights and weekends, may be needed to meet critical deadlines and mission goals.

In return, we offer a dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a high-growth industry. We want you to make the most of your journey at E-Space. That's why we support and invest in the physical, emotional and financial well-being of our team members and their families.

Some of what you can expect when working at E-Space: - An opportunity to really make a difference - Sustainability at our core - Fair and honest workplace - Innovative thinking is encouraged - Competitive salaries - Continuous learning and development - Health and wellness care options - Financial solutions for the future - Optional legal services (US only) - Paid holidays - Paid time off
