Senior FPGA/Prototype Design Engineer
About the job
## Application close date Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.
Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based connectivity with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth.
This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations. We are seeking a Senior FPGA/Prototype Design Engineer to work in conjunction with the Design Validation team to ensure our ASIC designs are fully validated.
You partner with design, verification, and software teams to accelerate software development, enable early hardware integration, and support post-silicon bring up.
Your work directly supports Blue Origin's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space for the benefit of Earth. ## Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain ASIC to FPGA retargeting flows, including resource constraints, clock rate reductions, and memory retargeting. - Deliver FPGA prototype platforms covering multiple design configurations, top levels, and release qualification. - Qualify commercial emulation platforms for release and assess test case compatibility and coverage partitioning against simulation. - Reproduce and debug prototype and emulation failures with design and verification teams through resolution. - Build portable platform environments spanning block and top level, RTL and gate, pre-silicon and silicon. - Support post-silicon bring up using shared pre-silicon bench and simulation platforms. - Accelerate software development and early hardware integration through prototype releases and documented feature limitations. - Support internal platform users through triage, documentation, and direct technical assistance. ## Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - 7+ years of experience in FPGA prototyping, emulation, or digital design verification. - Experience with FPGA implementation tools and flows, including synthesis, constraints, and timing closure. - Experience developing and debugging production RTL in System Verilog or Verilog authored by others. - Experience defining FPGA prototype or emulation flows, including build automation and release management. ## Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Experience with emulation platforms supporting large scale SoC validation and release. - Background in space-based communications, wireless communications, modem, baseband, or DSP hardware. - Experience verifying LDPC, FEC, framing, or beamforming logic using bit-accurate reference models. - Experience with interconnect or NoC verification covering performance, bandwidth, QoS, and deadlock analysis. - Experience verifying fault tolerance features such as ECC, redundancy schemes, or fault injection. ## Culture Statement Don’t meet all desired requirements?
Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification. At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building an authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every desired qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Candidates may be subject to verification and BGS screening as per applicable law.
