About the job

## Application close date Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

The Configuration Data Manager III (Configurator) owns the product configuration baseline across the full system lifecycle - from concept and design through production, test, and final delivery to the customer.

This role ensures eBOM integrity, maintains as-built configuration records for all serialized deliverables, and administers the change control processes that keep engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management aligned on a single authoritative product definition.

In this role, you’ll work with AI developers to create novel tools and processes to increase engineering efficiency in product development. ## Responsibilities - Develop, maintain, and control the engineering Bill of Materials (eBOM) across all product structures from concept through delivery, ensuring accuracy and traceability at every lifecycle phase. - Develop and maintain tools and processes to capture and track the as-built / as-delivered BOM and configuration records for each serialized unit, supporting production floor verification and customer deliverable packages. - Establish and maintain configuration identification schemes including part numbering, document numbering, serialization, lot/serial effectivity conventions, and revision control standards. - Own and administer the Configuration Management Plan (CMP) in compliance with applicable standards. - Manage the full change control process - initiate, track, coordinate, and disposition Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). - Chair or actively support the Configuration Control Board (CCB); coordinate cross-functional review and approval of proposed changes with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management stakeholders. - Perform Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) - maintain auditable records of approved configuration baselines, open/closed changes, waivers, deviations, and full change history. - Plan and execute Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) to verify that delivered hardware and software match the approved design baseline. - Interface with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., PTC Windchill, Agile, ENOVIA, Teamcenter) to ensure data integrity and synchronization across eBOM, manufacturing BOM (mBOM), and service BOM (sBOM) structures. - Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to translate the eBOM into the mBOM, resolving discrepancies and ensuring manufacturability requirements are captured in the product structure. - Manage interface control documentation (ICDs) and support interface configuration control activities with customers, subcontractors, and partner organizations. - Support supplier and subcontractor CM compliance - review deliverable data packages, verify configuration traceability of delivered parts and assemblies against approved drawings and specifications. - Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and program reviews (PDR, CDR, PRR, FRR) as the CM subject matter expert, ensuring CM considerations are addressed at each milestone. - Develop dashboards, reports, and automated tooling to provide program-wide visibility into BOM health, change backlog, open anomalies, deviation/waiver status, and configuration baseline currency. - Train and mentor engineering and operations staff on CM processes, tools, data standards, and best practices. - Support customer and internal quality audits related to configuration management; prepare objective evidence packages and respond to findings. ## Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - 5+ years of configuration management experience on complex hardware development programs (aerospace, defense, industrial systems, or comparable). - Demonstrated proficiency with PLM/PDM tools (PTC Windchill, Agile, ENOVIA, Teamcenter, or equivalent). - Working knowledge of EIA-649 (Configuration Management Standard), MIL-HDBK-61, and/or AS9100 quality management requirements. - Experience owning eBOM structures and managing change control workflows in a multi-discipline engineering environment. - Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to data accuracy and configuration traceability. ## Preferred - Experience developing automated tools or scripts (Python, VBA, SQL, or similar) for BOM analysis, reporting, or data reconciliation. - Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital thread / digital twin initiatives. - Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and their integration with PLM/PDM for as-built tracking. - CMPIC or equivalent configuration management certification. ## Culture Statement Don’t meet all desired requirements?
