Key findings
- 2
11 employers stated pay on every posting read, among them Relativity Space, Astranis, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and HawkEye 360. The fewest postings with pay came from RTX (0%), Kepler Communications (0%) and Dawn Aerospace (0%).
- 4
A stated range's top sat a median 1.38x its bottom; the widest ranges were in Avionics & Electrical (1.45x, a median $61,185 apart).
Figure 1
How often each space employer states pay in its postings
Which space companies tell you the salary before you apply?
Sample. 8,150 roles open on 29 Oct 2026 on boards whose posting text this site reads.
A posting states pay when its text gives a figure per hour, week, month or year; a figure given only as a ceiling ("up to") counts as stated.
No row with any roles is a small sample: the rows differ so much that each reads on its own from its first.

Sample. 7,394 of those roles are in the United States; a role is placed in each state its location names, and roles naming none are left out of this table.
Several US states require employers to include a pay range in a job posting; the guide to space salaries explains which. This table measures what the postings actually do.
No row with any roles is a small sample: the rows differ so much that each reads on its own from its first.

Figure 3
How often space postings state pay, by kind of work
Are engineering or technician postings more likely to show the pay?
Sample. 8,150 roles open on 29 Oct 2026 on boards whose posting text this site reads.
Rows with fewer than 60.3 roles are marked as a small sample and not ranked: below that the average of the rows weighs more than a row's own roles (the weight fitted on the rows' own counts).

Figure 4
How wide space postings' pay ranges are
When a space posting gives a salary range, how far apart are the bottom and the top?
| Kind of work | Top of range over bottom | Median width a year |
|---|---|---|
| Avionics & Electrical | 1.45x | $61,185 |
| RF, Communications & Payloads | 1.44x | $65,000 |
| Manufacturing & Technicians | 1.40x | $31,200 |
| Ground Software & IT | 1.39x | $60,000 |
| Quality & Mission Assurance | 1.39x | $36,200 |
| Supply Chain & Facilities | 1.39x | $40,000 |
| Mechanical, Structures & Thermal | 1.38x | $44,000 |
| Systems, Integration & Test | 1.38x | $48,510 |
| Flight Software & GNC | 1.37x | $54,000 |
| Launch & Mission Operations | 1.37x | $40,000 |
| Programs & Business | 1.34x | $45,000 |
| Science, Imaging & Earth Data | 1.33x | $40,000 |
| Propulsion & Engines | 1.28x | $38,981 |
Sample. 2,581 postings open on 29 Oct 2026 that state a range (a top above the bottom), as a year's pay.
A ratio of 1.40x means the top of the typical range is 40% above its bottom. Medians need 3 ranges.

Buy the data behind this report
The figures above are a summary. Behind them are records we collect ourselves, every day:
roles tracked, each with its history
Every role on the job boards we read every hour: its pay and place, and the first and last day it was open.
apply clicks, counted
Which roles people actually apply to, by field, pay and kind of work. It happens on this site, so nobody else can count it.

Method and definitions
Every open posting whose text this site reads on the space employers' public job boards, read once a day for the pay it states. Every figure is computed by one database query over the window shown, the same query for the live report and for every edition. Each figure states its sample beneath it.
- States pay
- The posting's text gives a figure per hour, week, month or year; a ceiling alone ("up to") counts as stated.
- Top of range over bottom
- For a posting stating a range, its top divided by its bottom: 1.40x means the top is 40% above the bottom.
- Boards read as listings only
- Employer boards this site reads without posting text; their roles cannot be said to state or omit pay, so they are left out.
What this data cannot tell you
- A posting's pay is what the employer wrote; equity, bonuses and shift premiums are often left out of it.
- A role naming sites in several states counts in each, so a state's share can include postings written for another state's law.
- Employers outside the United States are compared on the same measure, though their countries' rules differ.
How the job feeds are read and roles are classified: site methodology. How fresh, complete and consistent the data is, checked every day: data quality and coverage.
Editions
This report reads the live job boards every day. Each complete month is also published as an edition, frozen two days after the month ends, so a figure you cite from an edition never moves.
