Space job offer: genuine or a scam?
Drop in whatever reached you, be it a message, email, chat or URL. Each link and sender is compared with the official domains of 47 employers and screened for impostor domains, the pay is set against live postings for the same work, and you get a straight answer.
Signs of a scam
Red flags in a fraudulent space job offer
Any fee or deposit
Real employers pay you. A fee to apply, for training, a background check, a clearance or a visa, or a deposit of any kind is the clearest sign of a scam.
A check to deposit
A check sent to buy home-office equipment from a vendor they name, with money to send back or on, is the fake-check scam: the check bounces after you have paid.
Interviews only by chat
Real employers interview by phone or video, and usually on site, with people from the team you would join. An interview held only on Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal or Google Chat, followed by a fast offer, is a warning.
SSN, ID or bank details first
Background checks, export-control checks and payroll details come after a written offer, through the employer's own process, never in a chat.
Look-alike addresses
A domain one letter off, an extra word such as "-careers" or "-hr", or a free email address speaking for a well-known company is how impostors pose as it.
Pay that is too good
Our pay figures come from the live space vacancies on this board. An easy job promising far more than any genuine posting in that discipline is a lure, not an opportunity.
Fake interviews are a scam of their own: an “interview” held only in a chat, then an offer the same day, is how many of these start. A real space employer interviews you by phone or video, and usually in person, with people from the team before any offer.
The addresses we check against
Where real messages come from
The official domains and hiring board of every employer, taken from the same sources that feed our listings. An address missing from this list does not prove fraud on its own, yet it does not belong to that employer.

Job scam checker: questions
How do I know whether an offer from a space company is genuine?
Check where it sends you and what it asks. A real offer comes from an employer you can find yourself: the role is on its own careers site or its job board, and you talk to its recruiters and engineers by phone or video, usually on site too, before a written offer. If it asks you to pay anything, to deposit a check, to interview only by chat, or to send ID or bank details in a message, treat it as a scam. Paste it above and we check the links, the sender and the pay for you.
How do I check that an email is really from a space company?
Compare the sender's domain, letter by letter, with the company's own site: real recruiting mail comes from the company's own domain or from the hiring service it posts its roles on. A free email address or a domain with an extra word is not the company. The addresses we check against list each employer's own sites and job board.
Should I ever pay a space company to apply or start work?
No. Employers pay you for work and charge nothing to apply, interview or start. A fee for an application, training, a background check or a visa, equipment you must buy, or a check to deposit and pass on is the most common sign of a job scam.
A recruiter reached me on WhatsApp or Telegram. Is that a scam?
Not always: a recruiter may send a first message on LinkedIn or by text. But applications, interviews and offers go through the employer's own careers site, email and calls. An interview held only by text chat, or a chat that asks for money, crypto, ID or bank details, is a scam.
Is the text I submit kept anywhere?
No. The check runs in memory, an AI model reads your text a single time to reach a verdict, and then it is discarded. The only thing we record is a tally of verdicts. See our privacy policy for the commitment in writing.
Who should hear about a fake space recruiter?
Tell the employer being impersonated, using contact details from its official site, and flag the profile or number on the platform that delivered the message. US residents can also file with the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
