Working student (f/m/d) - Space Sustainability & Concurrent Engineering Support
About the role
The Institute of Space Systems analyses and evaluates complex space systems from a technical, economic and socio-political perspective. In addition, the Institute develops innovative concepts for space missions with high international visibility.
What to expect
The Space Segment Systems Analysis Department carries out and develops studies of space systems (orbital, deep space, planetary) at concept level from a technical, economic and socio-political perspective. The studies carried out in the department serve to prepare activities in the field of systems engineering and as a decision-making aid for policy and programme committees. To this end, the department operates the Concurrent Engineering Facility (CEF), also known as the Simultaneous Design Laboratory, and the Planetary Infrastructures Laboratory for the development of specialized habitat technologies. The large-scale research facility CEF is used, among other things, to define missions, analyze them and carry out early design as well as research and development tasks. The activities in the CEF are carried out with a team of multidisciplinary experts and with the involvement of internal and external partner organizations. The concurrent engineering methodology is applied, which extends and at times replaces the conventional systems engineering methodology.
Your tasks
- Contribute to literature reviews, LC(S)A-modelling tasks, and preparations for the presentation of results
- Support with meeting organization, documentation, action tracking and stakeholder organization
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, workshops and, possibly, concurrent engineering studies to advance sustainability in the space sector
- Advance ongoing concurrent engineering research topics by carrying out literature reviews and analysis in the field
- Support of ongoing operational and outreach activities of the Concurrent Engineering Facility (CEF)
Your profile
- currently pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science or similar
- strong research and analytical abilities
- excellent written and verbal English skills
- ability to work self‑motivated and detail‑oriented
- comfortable working in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary team
We look forward to getting to know you!
