Controller, Spacecraft Operations

Role Description Summary

The Spacecraft Operations team is responsible for 24/7 monitoring and control of SES’s multi-orbit fleet of communication satellites. The incumbent will operate GEO and/or MEO satellites to ensure asset safety, customer performance, and maximize spacecraft lifetime. The incumbent should also achieve accreditation and specialization on ground systems and satellite platforms.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Result Areas

• Obtain Spacecraft Controller Ground System accreditation
• Obtain Satellite Subsystem accreditations
• Attend regular training sessions to achieve and maintain accreditation
• Maintain technical proficiency through procedure reviews and training
• Draft updates to operational procedures
• Troubleshoot and resolve ground and spacecraft sub-system anomalies
• Maintain operations activity schedule and deconflict requests
• Monitor telemetry data, transmit commands and perform ranging operations
• Perform training and coaching for Spacecraft Controllers
• Notify engineers or on-call personnel of uncovered events
• Maximise transponder availability through effective communication
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering and/or 3 to 6 years of relevant experience
• Ability to work on 24/7 rotating shifts
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Preferred

• Experience with satellite and/or ground systems
• Experience with Python, C#, HTML/CSS/JS, or other programming languages
• Understanding of computer, baseband and RF equipment associated with a TT&C facility
