Launch Pad Technician II

Relativity Space logoRelativity Space$28.36/hrCape Canaveral, Florida, United StatesPosted today

About the role

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Launch team operates at the intersection of every major aspect of Terran R, from stages and payloads to ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment. The Cape is the only place where you see it all come together, offering a level of exposure and responsibility unmatched elsewhere in the program. This is where first flights happen, where history is built on top of history, and where the scale of what's underway is unlike anything in modern aerospace. The mission stays the same, but the work evolves with every milestone: from first launch to reuse, high-cadence operations, and beyond. If you're looking to define what's next in space launch and write a new playbook, not just repeat what’s already been done, this is where it happens.

About the Role

As a Launch Pad Technician II, you’ll help ensure the safe and successful execution of launch pad development, launch operations, and pad maintenance between flights. You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, and support teams to build, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot critical pad systems. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will be key to keeping launch operations safe, efficient, and on schedule.

  • Execute launch pad development, launch operations, and maintenance activities involving process tubing, high-pressure gas systems, mechanical systems, and launch day operations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, procedures, and technical documentation to fabricate, assemble, install, operate, and maintain fluid systems and mechanical components.
  • Support launch countdown operations, including integrated testing, system activation, and live launch activities while maintaining clear communication in time-sensitive environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex pad hardware issues, working with engineering and leadership to identify solutions and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and management to develop safe and effective operating procedures and continuously improve processes, quality, efficiency, and operational cadence.
  • Mentor and support team members by sharing knowledge, providing constructive feedback, and promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Perform additional launch site tasks as assigned, which may include working outdoors, standing for extended periods, and operating equipment as needed.

About You

  • 1+ years of experience in aerospace operations, manufacturing, maintenance, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire to solve complex hardware and operational problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with software systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational timelines, launch schedules, and mission cadence.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, reach lifts, man lifts, or similar equipment.
  • Prior experience working as a technician, mechanic, or in a hands-on technical role.

Nice to Haves but Not Required

  • Experience working with cryogenic systems.
  • Experience with lifting and crane operations.
  • Experience with general facility maintenance.
  • Experience with construction, demolition, or similar site activities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems involving electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing systems.
